  • Thank you for your interest in the Summer University Program hosted by the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle!

    This program is designed to keep high school students engaged and learning during the summer months to prevent summer learning loss. Programming is led by ULMS Education Department staff and certified teachers.

    Students enrolled in the program can expect to: 

    • Engage in topics such as entrepreneurship, financial literacy, technology and design, health and wellness, and more.
    • Receive a financial stipend at the completion of the program. 

    Program Dates:

    • Program Begins: July 6, 2026
    • Program Ends: August 14, 2026

    Class times for Summer University will be held Monday through Friday from 9AM - 3PM. Doors open and breakfast will be available each day beginning at 8:30AM.

    • Summer University is divided into morning and afternoon sessions, allowing students to choose between two interests for the day. Below you can select the track you wish to pursue in the morning AND afternoon.

    • SUMMER TRACKS | MORNING SESSION

      Peer Mentor:
      The 6-week youth peer mentor program prepares participants to support their peers and lead impactful mental health awareness campaigns in their community while earning a certification and building leadership experience through promoting positive conversations and resources around mental health.

      Entrepreneurship: The 6-week youth entrepreneurship program empowers young participants to develop business ideas, learn financial literacy, and gain practical skills to launch their own ventures.

      Financial Literacy: The 6-week youth financial literacy program helps youth build a strong foundation in money management by learning the basics of budgeting, saving, and investing while exploring how the stock market works and gaining practical skills to begin thinking like future investors.

      Youth Media: Participants in the Youth Media Challenge will explore Revolutionary ideals—such as liberty, self-governance, and democracy—by creating original media projects in partnership with PBS. Students will complete a project for submission, and entries will be featured on the PBS website for a nationwide audience.

       

    • SUMMER TRACKS | AFTERNOON SESSION

      Branding + App Design: This 6-week Branding + App Design program guides students through building a real brand, designing a logo, and prototyping a working mobile app in Figma while developing creative and entrepreneurial skills and presenting their ideas in a final pitch competition.

      Connections:
      The 6-week Connections program encourages participants to collaborate on projects, develop leadership skills, and create positive change within their local communities and schools.

      Y-Scholars: The 6-week youth scholars program provides academic enrichment, mentorship, and college readiness skills to help students excel in their studies and prepare for higher education.

      Health & Wellness: The 6-week youth health & wellness program focuses on promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyle choices through interactive activities and expert guidance.

      Career Exploration: This 6-week Career Exploration program helps youth discover different career paths while building essential work-readiness skills such as communication, teamwork, and professionalism, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship while developing the tools needed to prepare for future jobs and career opportunities, with three participants selected for a Fall 2026 internship.
