  • Thank you for your interest in the Summer University Program hosted by the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle!

    This program is designed to keep high school students engaged and learning during the summer months to prevent summer learning loss. Programming is led by ULMS Education Department staff and certified teachers.

    Students enrolled in the program can expect to: 

    • Engage in topics such as entrepreneurship, STEM, youth and politics, and health and wellness, and more.
    • Receive a financial stipend at the completion of the program. 

    Program Dates:

    • Program Begins: July 7, 2025
    • Program Ends: August 15, 2025

    Class times for Summer University will be held Monday through Friday from 9AM - 3PM. Doors open and breakfast will be available each day beginning at 8:30AM.

    • Disclaimer: Summer University is divided into morning and afternoon sessions, allowing students to choose between two interests for the day. Below you can select the track you wish to pursue in the morning AND afternoon.

    • SUMMER TRACKS | MORNING SESSION

      Culinary:
      The 6-week youth culinary program offers hands-on cooking classes designed to teach young participants essential kitchen skills, creativity, and healthy eating habits.

      Entrepreneurship: The 6-week youth entrepreneurship program empowers young participants to develop business ideas, learn financial literacy, and gain practical skills to launch their own ventures.

      STEM: The 6-week youth STEM program engages participants in exciting hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and math to inspire innovation and problem-solving skills.

      Health & Beauty: The 6-week youth Health & Beauty program introduces participants to skincare/make-up, nail design, and braiding techniques while promoting self-care, confidence, and healthy habits.

      Connections: The 6-week Connections program encourages participants to collaborate on projects, develop leadership skills, and create positive change within their local communities and schools.

      Y-Scholars: The 6-week youth scholars program provides academic enrichment, mentorship, and college readiness skills to help students excel in their studies and prepare for higher education.

    • SUMMER TRACKS | AFTERNOON SESSION

      Youth & Gov: The 6-week youth government program offers participants a hands-on experience in civic engagement, leadership, and understanding the workings of local and national government.

      Health & Wellness: The 6-week youth health & wellness program focuses on promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyle choices through interactive activities and expert guidance.

      SharkTank: The 6-week youth Shark Tank program challenges participants to develop and pitch their own business ideas, fostering entrepreneurial skills, creativity, and confidence in a competitive environment.

      Lil Labs: The 6-week youth Science Lil Labs program offers hands-on experiments and interactive lessons to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for science in young learners.

      Fix the Harm: The 6-week youth Fix the Harm program engages students to do citizen science projects where they learn about the impact of noise pollution from SeaTac flight paths.
